What makes this program special?

¨   All players need solid fundamentals, and players at every level  improve with instruction and reinforcement, so we give attention to beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels, teaching individual and team skills.

¨   Children learn by a combination of instruction and hands-on application, so we provide both.

¨   Skills should be taught, practiced, and reviewed and reinforced in game situations,   so we base our program on those practices.

Is competition included in this program?

¨       Competition can overemphasize winning and losing, so we provide controlled

competition with flexible team rosters and without league standings

Do girls and boys play on the same teams?

¨   Yes. At this age, development and  strength differentials are minimal.  Players are

grouped by ability, and we treat all of them as athletes, without emphasis on gender.

¨ The benefits of team sports should be available to all ages, genders, and skill levels.  We welcome boys and girls from ages 5 to 14 for baseball and/or basketball. We also welcome girls to our tackle football program in the fall.

Who will work with my child?

¨  Instructors are high school graduates with playing experience. Some grew up in this

program. They are interviewed, trained, and supervised as they work with your child.

¨  Supervisors have years of experience in this program.

¨  All are professional staff, not volunteers. We invest in staff rather than  brief appearances by big-name figures.

What is the role of the parents?

¨   We want to work with parents to make sure that each child is getting what is needed.

Therefore, parental input is encouraged and expected!

¨  We want to make each child's experience the best that it can be. We do not tolerate

name-calling or any form of bullying, and we count on parents to tell us what their

     child reports about the program.

¨  If you do not have time to talk with a supervisor on site, call Randy Maum (291-8730)

in the evening. We want to know about any incidents as soon as possible.
